Location:
The Commercial Specialist (m/f) shall be the supporting role in our international programs and will empower our young Organization in Croatia. The role is a member of commercial department and takes responsibility for all commercial matters within a project. It will have previous experience in supervising the projects from the preparation of the offer to the successful completion of the project, whereby the task-portfolio also includes order processing/execution and project controlling.
The ideal person for the job will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, result-oriented and customer service-focused with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language, together with ability and willingness to travel is a necessity. In addition, a broader understanding of the international business environment is desirable, including customs regulations, foreign exchange fluctuations, and international market trends that may impact commercial decisions. For this position, you will have the following key area of responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day commercial activities and execution of international naval projects
- Assist in commercial planning and controlling of international naval projects, including but not limited to design costs, OPEX, CAPEX, BoM, manufacturing and production costs
- Implementation and creation of order calculations, residual cost estimation and target/actual comparisons in close cooperation with the departments involved
- Commercially monitor project progress, identify and track risks and issues, and make recommendations to the corrective actions as necessary
- Assessing the financial impact of commercial activities on project profitability, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Monitor and ensure on-time invoicing of Shipbuilding milestones as per contractual payment schedules and communication with internal and external project stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations
- Develop and maintain project plans, including but not limited to payment schedules and cost estimates
- Monitoring and managing financial instruments for receivables protection to ensure payment security and minimize financial risk
- Participate in project meetings and provide commercial support to the Project Managers as required
- Prepare, review and analyze project commercial data, including budget vs. Actual expenditures and provide input to Project Managers to optimize the project performance
- Prepare regular status reports and communicate project performance to project stakeholders
- Ensure proper documentation and record keeping throughout project lifecycles
- Participate in project tender processes in gathering and compiling commercial data including preparation of complex commercial calculations for final offer to customers
- Preparation of participation of contract negotiations, project meetings and cots reviews
- Clarification of all commercial questions and topics in conjunction with the execution of the projects including but not limited to Payments (e. g. via Letter of Credit or Bank Transfer, Invoicing, Documents), customs
- Reviewing and analyzing contractual provisions with a focus on commercial aspects (payments, guarantees, deadlines, liabilities) and working closely with legal and financial teams to ensure contract compliance with business objectives
Qualifications:
The Commercial Specialist (m/f) has a background balanced with industrial experiences and processes combined with start-up fast moving organizations, as well as:
- Master or Bachelor degree in Economics, Business Administration or Engineering
- 3 to 5 years of proven commercial experience in business relevant discipline (preferable in maritime industry)
- Familiar in working with legal documents
- Advanced user of usual MS Office solutions, especially Excel, Power Point and Word
- High knowledge of English language (written and spoken), German/Arabic is advantage
- Understanding of commercial products and services as well as ability to read and interpret key commercial elements of contracts with proven experience in working with contractual documentation
- strong knowledge of financial instruments for receivables protection (e.g. guarantees, letters of credit, trade credit insurance etc)
- solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- Demonstration of commercial awareness and skills for developing solutions to a variety of complex commercial problems
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a dynamic high growth environment
