Designer Engineer

Short Description

On behalf of our client Daytona, we are looking for a Design Engineer to join their team in Zagreb or Split.As a Design Engineer at Daytona, you will bridge the gap between design and engineering — owning the frontend experience of Daytona's user-facing applications, with a primary focus on the Daytona Dashboard. You will combine strong visual design sensibility with deep frontend engineering skills to craft polished, performant, and intuitive interfaces for developers and platform administrators.

Description

• Own the frontend development and design execution of the Daytona Dashboard — the primary interface for managing sandboxes, environments, and platform resources
• Translate product requirements and design concepts into high-quality, responsive, and accessible UI components
• Establish and maintain a consistent design system and component library for Daytona's frontend applications
• Collaborate closely with product, backend engineering, and developer relations to ensure seamless integration between frontend and API layers
• Champion frontend performance, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-browser compatibility
• Prototype new features and interactions rapidly; iterate based on user feedback and usage data
• Contribute to UX research and usability testing efforts to continuously improve the developer experience
• Maintain and improve frontend build tooling, testing infrastructure, and CI/CD integration

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a frontend-heavy engineering role with a strong design sensibility
• Expert proficiency in React (or Next.js) and modern TypeScript
• Strong command of CSS/Tailwind and responsive design principles
• Demonstrated ability to translate designs into pixel-perfect, accessible implementations
• Experience building and maintaining component libraries or design systems
• A portfolio or examples of previous work demonstrating both design taste and engineering execution
• Eye for detail in typography, spacing, color, and interaction design
• Familiarity with agentic workflows and AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Opencode or similar)
