  • Kuha i priprema različite vrste jela prema dnevnim jelovnicima ili posebnim narudžbama.
  • Sudjeluje u planiranju i kreiranju jelovnika.
  • Raspoređuje radne zadatke pomoćnom osoblju u kuhinji (pomoćni kuhari, kuhinjski radnici).
  • Brine o optimalnom korištenju namirnica, pravilnom skladištenju i čuvanju namirnica, te rokovima trajanja.
  • Osigurava da se radne zadaće izvršavaju pravovremeno i prema visokim standardima.
  • Surađuje s konobarima, voditeljima ugostiteljskih objekata i ostalim osobljem.
  • Poštuje i provodi sanitarne i higijenske propise (HACCP standarde). 
  • Obavlja i druge poslove po nalogu nadređenih.
